BASKETBALL BACKBOARDS POLICY

The Stone Ridge Golf Club Rights and Restrictions for all Plats prohibit the installation of permanent basketball backboards in front of the 35 foot building setback line. However, in 2009 the Stone Ridge Homeowners' Association Board, based on member input and the social mix of our residents, decided to modify the Backboard Restriction. This modification of the Restriction will allow interested families to have a basketball backboard, but to do so in a manner that will preserve a more attractive appearance and insure a more convenient method to remove an unused backboard.

  • It is still prohibited to mount a backboard on the front of any residence.
  • It is still permissible, with prior approval from the SRHOA as to type and location, to permanently mount backboards behind the front 35 foot building setback line.
  • Effective June 1, 2009, and with prior approval from the SRHOA as to type and location, removable (semi-permanent) backboards may be installed in front of front-load garage residences at a distance not to exceed 17 feet from the building setback line. A semi-permanent backboard is defined as one that can be removed at or near ground level by unbolting a flange or by means of a slip-sleeve mounting.
  • Effective September 1, 2010, all portable backboards will be deemed a nuisance and are to be removed or converted to an approved semi-permanent configuration. A portable backboard is defined as one that is designed to be movable, sits on the ground or driveway and generally utilizes weights for stability.
  • Homeowners who currently have unauthorized permanent backboards must apply for approval by the SRHOA on or before September 1, 2009. Such approval will include conditions regarding the eventual removal of the backboard. Approval forms available online at SRHOA website: stoneridgehomeowners.org.
  • All backboards must be maintained in first-class condition in accord with the general maintenance requirements of the Stone Ridge Golf Club Rights and Restrictions.
